What's Included in a Sliding Gate Kit?
Kits include the motor plus everything you need to physically run the gate; matched, rated, and ready to install together.
Every Powered Gates Australia motor and hardware kit includes:
- Motor/operator — the drive unit (BFT, FAAC, Centsys or Beninca depending on the kit)
- Gear rack — the toothed strip fixed to the base of the gate that the motor pinion drives against
- Gate track — the ground-level rail the gate wheels travel along
- Support wheels — carry the gate's full weight in motion; grade matched to the motor's rated load
- Guide rollers — keep the gate running straight and prevent lateral drift
Most residential kits include one or two remote controls. Confirm per product listing.
What is NOT included in any kit:
- Concrete for the motor pad (every motor requires a concrete slab at the mounting point)
- Electrical cable from your power supply to the motor
- Conduit for cable protection
- The gate frame itself
If you need a complete supply-and-install service, our team covers Melbourne and surrounding areas.
Choosing the Right Kit: Residential, Commercial or Industrial?
The most common mistake is buying to the motor rating and overlooking the hardware. Every component in the bundle needs to match the gate's weight and the site's daily cycle count.
- Residential kits are built for home driveways and light commercial entries. Gates up to 400 kg, standard nylon gear rack, up to 100 cycles per day. Right for what they're designed for.
- Commercial bundles suit the 400–800 kg range: schools, strata complexes, office parks, and light industrial entries where the gate works harder than a standard residential installation. Reinforced hardware, such as double-bearing wheels, heavier rack, stronger track, is the standard across this tier.
- Industrial bundles are a different category. Gates from 800 kg to 2,000 kg; steel-core nylon gear rack as standard; BOSS Double Rebate Bearing wheels (Centsys bundles) or IBFM 140mm recessed dual-bearing wheels (FAAC 844 bundle), the same hardware commercial gate fabricators specify on new industrial builds. These are the minimum correct specification for this load and cycle rating.
| Gate Weight | Gate Width | Daily Cycles | Recommended Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 400 kg | Up to 5 m | Up to 100 | Residential kit |
| 400–800 kg | Up to 9 m | 100–500 | Commercial bundle |
| 800 kg+ | Up to 15 m | 500+ | Industrial bundle — Centsys D10/D20 or FAAC 844 |

Featured Industrial Bundles
Centsys D10 and D20 SMART Industrial Bundle
The Centsys D10 SMART handles gates up to 1,000 kg in openings from 5 m to 9 m wide. The D20 SMART scales that to 2,000 kg for openings from 10 m to 15 m. Both run on a 24V DC system with integrated battery backup as standard with no optional module required.
BOSS Double Rebate Bearing wheels and steel-core nylon gear rack are matched to each motor's rated load and cycle capacity. SMART technology includes Hall Effect obstacle detection and MyCentsys app compatibility via optional Wi-Fi module.
Best for: Warehouses, schools, strata estates, transport depots, and any site that needs battery-backed smart gate operation without a 240V mains connection at the gate.

The FAAC 844 is a 240V AC oil-bath lubricated motor rated for gates up to 1,800 kg, with a 70% duty cycle suited to semi-intensive heavy industrial use. Italian-made, commercial grade IBFM 140mm recessed dual-bearing wheels are bundled to match the motor's weight and cycle ratings.
Best for: Extreme-weight gates, mining and agricultural access points, and high-use sites with 240V mains power at the gate.

Telescopic Sliding Gate Kits
A standard single-panel sliding gate needs run-back space equal to the full gate width plus the motor, but a telescopic gate uses two panels that stack behind the post when open. The gate clears the same opening width but only needs half the run-back space. It's the standard solution for:
- Residential driveways with a structure, fence, or boundary within 4–5 m of the post
- Battle-axe and corner blocks where a single-panel gate can't fully retract
- Tight commercial entries where a standard gate would block access to adjacent areas
If run-back space is the constraint on your installation, start with the telescopic kit. For a full explanation of when and how they work, see our sliding gate kit buying guide.
Why Matched Hardware Matters
A premium motor paired with wheels that aren't rated for its load will develop lateral play as the wheels wear. The gate starts to wobble, then to bind, then to ride off the track. Re-alignment is the good outcome but full hardware replacement is more likely.
Every PGA bundle pairs the motor with hardware rated for that motor's weight and cycle capacity. The BOSS wheels in the Centsys bundles and the IBFM wheels in the FAAC 844 bundle are specified because they're what the load and cycle rating of those motors actually require and because they're the same hardware commercial gate fabricators order for the same applications.
Our suppliers: BFT, FAAC, Centsys, Beninca (motors) and BOSS, IBFM, Hi Motion (gate hardware). These are direct supplier relationships, instead of generic components sourced from a distributor catalogue.
Getting the Right Advice Before You Order
For gates outside standard specifications, such as unusual weight, non-standard opening width, specific daily cycle requirements, sloped driveways, confirm the right bundle before you buy. Getting this wrong costs more to fix than it would have cost to confirm upfront.
Contact our team with three measurements: gate width (post to post), gate weight (from your fabricator, or estimated from material and dimensions), and your site's daily cycle count. We'll confirm the right kit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a kit and a bundle?
Both terms refer to a motor paired with the matching hardware components: gear rack, track, wheels, and guide rollers. Individual product listings show exactly what each kit includes.
Do the kits include the gate itself?
No. Kits include the motor and all the mechanical hardware needed to run the gate. The gate frame, such as the steel tube, aluminium slat, Colorbond, timber infill, is manufactured or purchased separately and should be on site before installation begins.
Is professional installation included in the kit price?
Not in the kit price. Powered Gates Australia offers a full supply-and-install service across Melbourne and surrounding areas. View the installation service for details.
Do I need a licensed electrician to install a gate motor kit?
For 240V mains motors (FAAC 844), yes. In all Australian states, a 240V connection at the gate location must be installed and signed off by a licensed electrician. For 24V DC motors (Centsys, BFT, Beninca), the low-voltage connection is generally DIY-capable in most states. Check your state's electrical regulations before proceeding.
Does free shipping apply to all kits?
Free shipping applies to all orders over $1,499, Australia-wide. Confirm current shipping policy at checkout.
